A 29-year-old son of Ugandan immigrants is challengingCongresswoman Yvette Clarke (D-NY)Adem Bunkeddeko announced his bid, with a focus on the housing crisis facing the Brooklyn neighborhood of Crown Heights. “We can’t build housing fast enough to meet demand and the rent laws aren’t enough, either. To save our neighborhoods, we need to ensure that residents are also owners who share in the prosperity brought by new investments in the neighborhood.” He says he wants to bring new ideas to a party that has lost its way. Bunkeddeko is a graduate of Haverford College and the Harvard Business School and worked briefly as an investment banker before he became a community organizer and member of Brooklyn Community Board #8.
