Castro Says He’s Not Running for Governor


Congressman Joaquín Castro (D-TX) says he has no plans to run for Governor of Texas despite the state's Democratic Party chairman insisting that Castro was still considering it. The Congressman said that his plan is to run for re-election. There's no viable Democrat to challenge Governor Greg Abbott, and Democrats have not won a statewide office in Texas since 1994. When asked if he believes he’s the party’s only option in the governor’s race, Castro said “absolutely not” -- but offered no alternatives. More here.
