Hurd Makes Most Vulnerable List
Roll Call lists Congressman Will Hurd (R-TX) on their top ten list of most vulnerable Republicans. Hurd is in a toss-up race in the Lone Star State's largest district thatHillary Clinton carried by three points. Hurd was re-elected in 2016 by one point. The previous holder, Democrat Pete Gallego, lost to Hurd in 2014 and in a rematch last year. More than 70% of the area's population is Latino and the district encompasses 800 miles, from San Antonio to El Paso along the U.S.-Mexico border. Hurd became the first Black Republican elected to Congress from Texas. Though a number of Democrats are vying to take on Hurd, some believe they could have a better chance with a new name.
