USHCC Head Says He’s Not Leaving Presidential Diversity Council ... Yet
Javier Palomárez, President & CEO of the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, has joined the growing chorus of community leaders and elected officials calling on the president to fire senior advisor Stephen Bannon. In a statement, Palomárez -- a member of the president’s National Diversity Council -- said, “Denouncing white supremacy without equivocation and without reservation should have been a no-brainer for President Trump. Sadly, it seems clear that influential members of his administration were more worried about winning votes through dog whistles and winks and nods to the most evil elements of our society than in maintaining the moral authority of the presidency.” Despite the statement, Palomárez told MSNBC’s Morning Joe that he is sticking around -- for now. “This is not about serving a president, this is about serving the 4.2 million Hispanic-owned firms that collectively contribute over 668 billion dollars to our American economy. Our job is not done yet. My focus is on immigration reform, on healthcare reform, on tax reform. Those are the issues that I want to get back to. Business has taken a backseat to bigotry with this administration and we have to focus on the job at hand.” Click here to see the video to see the entire interview and see his full statement here.
