Native Americans Remind Everyone They’re Not Your Mascot Amid #TakeAKnee Movement

While People Support the #TakeAKnee movement continues, some Native American activists are reminding people of their #NotYourMascot movement. Born in an era when racism and bigotry were accepted by the dominant culture, "Indian" sports brands have grown to become multi-million dollar franchises. Native American activist Tara Houska (pictured) was not impressed when NFL CommissionerRoger Goodell issued a statement in response to the president’s verbal attack on NFL players. “Divisive comments like these demonstrate an unfortunate lack of respect for the NFL,” was Goodell's response. Houska replied via tweet, “'Divisive comments' denounced by @nfl.
