Cory Booker Blasts DHS Secretary Over POTUS’ Shithole Remarks

Yesterday, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee, and newly appointed member Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) was not having any of it. First, Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) pressed Nielsen to recall the president’s reported vulgar and racist comments about Haiti, El Salvador, and African countries during an immigration meeting last week. Nielsen testified she did not recall Trump saying “shithole countries.” Booker expressed disgust at Neilsen’s response. "When Dick Durbin called me I had tears of rage when I heard about his experience in this meeting, and for you not to feel that hurt and that pain and to dismiss some of the questions of my colleagues ... when tens of millions of Americans are hurting right now because of what they're worried about what happened in the White House, that's unacceptable to me," the Senator said.
