National Conference of Democratic Mayors Elects New President 

The National Conference of Democratic Mayors has chosen Denver Mayor Michael Hancock as their new President. Elected as Mayor of Denver in 2011, the University of Colorado graduate was re-elected for a second term in 2015. He is Denver's second African American Mayor after Wellington Webb. Hancock replaces outgoing President Sly James, Mayor of Kansas CityBoth men were part of the group that rejected an invitation to meet with Donald Trump on Wednesday, protesting Trump’s comments about African countries made earlier this month.
