Luján Grisham Wants a Vote to Formally Condemn GOP Colleague

Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chair Congresswoman Michelle Luján Grisham (D-NM) took to the floor of the House yesterday to introduce a resolution condemning Congressman Paul Gosar (R-AZ) for his request to have “Dreamers” attending the SOTU address arrested and deported. And because Luján Grisham was able to read the privileged resolution on the House floor, the chamber has two days to act on it and vote. While the GOP will likely seek to quash the vote, Dems can still force a procedural vote. The resolution claims that Gosar “abused his power in an attempt to interfere with and politicize the U.S. Capitol Police’s efforts to provide for a safe, secure, and open environment during the State of the Union” and violated the code of official conduct by not “behav[ing] at all times in a manner that shall reflect creditably on the House.” Stay tuned. Read the full resolution here.
