Ford Fired By Morgan Stanley For Misconduct
Former Congressman Harold Ford Jr. has been fired by Morgan Stanley after facing an internal investigation into allegations of misconduct. A Morgan Stanley spokesperson told HuffPost that Ford had been terminated for conduct inconsistent with their values and in violation of their policies. At least one woman, who was not employed by Morgan Stanley but interacted with Ford in a professional capacity, was interviewed by the company as part of the investigation. She said that Ford engaged in “harassment, intimidation, and forcibly grabbed her one evening in Manhattan, leading her to seek aid from a building security guard,” when she and Ford had a professional meeting. She said she finally had to email Ford asking him to stop contacting her, because he continued to do so after the encounter. In a statement, Ford denied the allegations: “This simply did not happen. I have never forcibly grabbed any woman or man in my life. … I support and have tremendous respect for the brave women now speaking out in this important national dialogue. False claims like this undermine the real silence breakers. I will now be bringing legal action against the reporter who has made these false claims about me as well as Morgan Stanley for improper termination.” MSNBC has also announced that Ford will not be a contributor on MSNBC while they look into the report about him being fired for alleged inappropriate conduct.
