Barack Obama Returns
Don’t call it a comeback. He’s been here for years. The Hill reports that former President Barack Obama will re-emerge on the national scene this fall. Reportedly, aides will huddle with Obama in the coming weeks to plot out what shape the former president's fall schedule will take. Advisors close to him say that while he will play an active role in helping his party rebuild, much of his work will be behind the scenes. He is likely to take on fundraising. This is something he has done for the DNC as well as the National Democratic Redistricting Committee -- the organization chaired by his former AG Eric Holder. According to The Hill, one aide describes his resurgence as a “delicate dance” that aims to put Obama in the Democratic fray, but prevent him from remaining the face of the party. Good luck with that. With party infighting, a newly rolled out plan that received a lot of criticism, and no consensus on a face of the party -- Obama’s leadership will be a welcome sight for many. There’s also another face that could re-emerge as well. Hillary Clinton is set to release her book this fall titled, What Happened,in which she is promising to provide candid details on why she thinks she lost the 2016 presidential election. The Hill has more.
