Black Lives Matter Invited On-Stage at Pro-Trump Rally

During this weekend’s “Mother of All Rallies” (MOAR) on Capitol Hill, a group of Black Lives Matter counter-protesters were invited on-stage to share their views with the pro-Trump crowd. MOAR organizer Tommy E. Hodges said to the crowd, “So what we’re going to do is something you’re not used to, and we’re going to give you two minutes of our platform to put your message out. ... It’s your right to say what you believe. And it’s their right to let you know what they think about what you’re saying.” He then turned over the mic to Hawk Newsome, President of Black Lives Matter of Greater New York. Newsome began his remarks by stating “I am an American,” a line that was met with cheers, and continued to talk about why BLM exists and how the movement is “anti-bad cop.” His remarks were met with both cheers and jeers, but overall it was remarkably civil. Watch it for yourself here.
