Time Magazine examines women and firsts. “Our goal with Firsts is for every woman and girl to find someone whose presence in the highest reaches of success says to her that it is safe to climb, come on up, the view is spectacular,” the magazine wrote. Featured women include, forme rAG Loretta Lynch, Senator Mazie Hirono (D-HI),UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, Minnesota state Rep. Ilhan Omar, Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden, GM’s Mary Barra, Xerox CEO Ursula Burns, Ava Duvernay, Selena Gómez, Oprah Winfrey, Rita Moreno, Shonda Rhimes, Serena Williams, and more. In total, they profile 23 women of color. A very notable omission: Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV), the first Latina member of the Senate.
