Carson Calls for Investigation on His Family

On Friday, HUD Secretary Dr. Ben Carson called on the department's Inspector General to “review” his family’s role and influence at HUD. Last week, we told you that despite warnings from department lawyers that doing so risked violating federal ethics rules, Carson let his son organize a “listening tour,” according to internal documents obtained by WaPo, and that could have potential conflicts of interest. The Post also reported that Myriddian LLC, a company owned by the Secretary’s daughter-in-law Merlynn Carson, received a $485,000 contract from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in September without a competitive bidding process. “This week, my family and I have been under attack by the media questioning our integrity and ethics.
