Obama Heads to New Zealand
Former President Barack Obama is heading to New Zealand in March, but we don’t know why. He’ll be in the country on March 21st for a yet-to-be-announced reason. One possibility is to celebrate the opening of Air New Zealand's new route to the U.S., likely to Chicago. Obama and New Zealand's former Prime Minister John Key, who now sits on Air New Zealand's board, developed a relationship when the two were in office. They were elected within a week of each other in 2008 and both had holiday homes in Hawaii. They frequently hobnobbed at international summits. In 2014, the pair spent five hours on the golf course in Hawaii. According to reports, a rematch is scheduled during Obama's visit next month. Obama had frequently promised to visit New Zealand but did not do so while he was in office. He’s making good on that promise now. More here.
